Benefits of Switching to an Organic Diet

Switching to organic foods has been a trend that has gained much popularity over the past years. Why, you may ask? Well it may have something to do with the fact that many people decided they no longer want to consume excessive amounts of chemicals, toxins or GMOs. Below you will find a few reasons why you should seriously consider switching to a more organic based diet.

  • Organic food contains no GMOs. GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, are essentially a mutation of real food, specifically a change in a plants or animals DNA. Unlike in other countries, in America the only foods that are completely GMO-free are organic foods.
  • Organic foods have better nutritional values. Organic meats are less fatty. Organic fruits and vegetables have more Vitamin C, iron, and magnesium. In addition to the nutritional value, organic foods usually taste better as well.
  • Organic crops are grown and processed without synthetic pesticides. In some cases, these pesticides can do serious harm to a person’s nervous system. The purpose of a pesticide is essentially to poison something. Simple washing of a vegetable before consumption does not wash off all of the poison.
  • Organic meats and dairy are of higher quality. Conventional meats are loaded with antibiotics and drugs that a person should not consume. The livestock this food comes from are raised in horrible conditions as well. Organic meats and dairy come from livestock that is raised without the utter cruelty.

While all of these points clearly state that eating organic is much healthier for a person, eating organic is also better for your conscience. When you become painfully aware of the chemicals that you put into your body everyday by eating non-organic foods and the cruelty animals suffer through, don’t you feel that eating organic is the better option for everyone? Not only will your health benefit, but so will the animals and the environment. This may be the best change you can make.
